Welcome to another Martini Monday. This month we are making all pink drinks in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and to honor the special women in my life that were born in October. October is actually a really big month for birthdays in my family. Both of my grandmothers, my sister and my God-daughter were all October babies. Their birthstone is an opal or a pink zircon so pink is very appropriate to celebrate their birthdays. Our pink drink this Monday is called a Pink Panther.
I don’t know about you, but I was a huge fan of the pink panther cartoons as a child. He was quietly crafty, and of course he was pink! I’m sure I am dating myself by admitting that but hey, it’s the truth. Plus, he had a catchy little theme song that was so fun to hum. You are thinking about that theme song now aren’t you? You’re welcome.
Well, let’s talk about this drink. It’s the first blended drink we have ever done for a Martini Monday. How exciting! We get to use appliances! Now, if you have an appliance aversion you could definitely just use a cocktail shaker and then strain it. I would encourage you to blend it though, because it becomes a frothy drink if you do. Not to mention the fact that it turns a really pretty pink color. This would be a great addition to a survivors party to celebrate being cancer free. It would also be fun for any Libra in your life, or just any celebration of a really girlie girl.
There are very few ingredients needed for this drink. You will need a cup of ice, amaretto, vodka, pineapple juice, and grenadine. The first thing you need to do is ready your blender. I have a vitamix blender, which is really great, but I also have a bullet and it is equally good for this. Next, you need to add your cup of ice to the blender. Add in one ounce of amaretto, I used Disaronno. Then add one ounce of vodka, I use Tito’s. It’s my favorite. Now add 8 ounces of pineapple juice, and one ounce of grenadine. Would you like to know more about what grenadine is? Read this post to find out more about this red, sweet syrup: Martini Monday – Endless Summer Martini
Once all the ingredients are added to the blender blend until the ice is fully pulverized and the drink looks like a frothy pink cloud. Get a couple of glasses and pour it in and enjoy. This recipe makes two drinks.
Until next time, it’s ok to be a pink panther…or a cougar if you prefer *wink wink*, and as always stay glamorous.
